Cubs Party Turns out to be a Scam
A Mount Prospect man has been charged with felony theft after being accused of failing to deliver on a promise to set up a Cubs party.
Thomas A. Ryan, 40, of the 1700 block of Forest Cove Drive, was arrested about 10:30 a.m. Jan. 7 at the Cook County Courthouse in Rolling Meadows, Mount Prospect police said.
A Batavia woman gave Ryan 16 bleacher tickets for a Chicago Cubs game, valued at $880, and $5,600 in three checks, reports said.
Ryan was to use the money from the tickets and the checks to purchase a Cubs rooftop event for Aug. 14, but he never made the transaction, reports said.
